We are looking at delighting in the word of the Lord, and that is not just reading the word out of duty, it is reading out of love, because we love to read the word. We take joy in reading it, and as a result, we become like a tree, rooted. That is firm. We are a tree by the water, that means we are Satisfied. Sustained. We are a tree that produces fruit. That means we are flourishing. If we delight in the word.

Now if we can spend our whole week without reading the Word, you will not be like a tree, you will not stand firm in your walk with the Lord, you will not be satisfied with God’s Word, you will not flourish and produce fruit. So my challenge to you is this, if you are not in the Word of God, get in the Word of God. If you don’t love the Word of God, check that you didn’t. live with the word of God and read it and apply it to your life. So last week we looked at delighting in the word, this week we’re going to look at delighting in God himself.

Psalm 37 is our Theme psalm, really, for this is, delight thyself in the Lord, and he shall grant thee the desires of thy heart. We live in a world that constantly chases blessings, constantly chases success, provision, comfort, peace. We’re all looking for that breakthrough. If I can just earn a little bit more, I’ll be more satisfied, I’ll be more happy, I’ll be more peaceful. And even in the church, it’s easy to slip into that mindset where we seek God primarily Because of what he can give us what can I get out of this? What can I get out of church? You should never ask yourself. What can I get out of church? You ought to be asking what can I put in the church?
